The resolution isn't the best, but I was in this guy's basement tonight looking at his stash and virtually all of these pieces are in great shape. Many acquired at that Midwest Traders auction in Hudson Iowa in Sept. of 2011, I believe JimWrench was there too.... I picked 15 items out of the pile and he said $35, so for $2 and change a piece, I got both of the Barcalo S Adjustables, that funky pipe threader on the bottom, and some other knick knaks that looked cool. He's putting together a "whole enchilada" price, and will be sending me higher resolution photos to post for you folks on this forum. Read the ad, it's pretty self explanatory.
The chain wrench is a Champion, but I may go back for that one. The 6" pipe wrenches are in great shape. Don't remember the brands. If any of you want to buy in bulk, let me know and I can facilitate the purchase. I'm not trying to make money on this deal, but would like to see these KEEPERS find a good home. There must be 30+ IH wrenches there on the upper left section.
Oh yeah, the CL url.....http://waterloo.craigslist.org/tls/3509052305.html

To say "nice find" just doesn't seem like enough. Better photo's would be nice. I have to think there is a home/market here for many of them should the details surface and logistics work out.
Where are the pictures of your haul?
-
Dang, you might have given someone a heart attack, that's a lot of goodies!!

I'll pick mine up on Saturday and he will give me a Buy It Now price, even though I don't have the cash to take the whole enchilada right now....and RV, settle down ol' buddy....lol

Nice find Moose. That tops my score last spring. Lots of nummy stuff.
-
As promised here are the upgraded cloeup photos from the owner....
-
last two that he sent me via email....
a couple notes: The 2nd photo here I have already taken the 2 S curve Adjustables, and the 4 holed pipe threader on the bottom row, and the fence pliers towards the bottom left. Oily has first shot at all the monkey and pipe wrenches, pending the seller's price on those items. the rest of it would be available, except for the other dozen items I got off the other bedsheet. I'll have a photo of what I nabbed tomorrow. The top row is almost exclusively IHC wrenches and they are really clean.
The Inidana Silo S wrenches I grabbed as well as that HErbrand thingie that ooks like ice tongs. I took one of the small 6" pipe wrenches and a cople others that escape the memory at the moment.

How about the alligators? Looks like we could just about clear him out.
-
Excellent find. Too bad I am way up in Canada. Have close to 600 monkey wrenches but could always use more. Go for it guys.
-
Papaw: If he's under $4 each for the alligators, are you in?? I'll be over there tomorrow. I'm pretty sure he's got a paypal; address. I don't know how to grade old tools, but these beat anything I've seen at auctions

I see a chalk box similar to the one I had posted, any idea what the make is?
-
Heelie, I'll look for the chalk box(I think I know which item you're talking about....lol) tomorrow and get back to you. Is it worth $2? If so, I think he'll let it go for that....

yea, I'll take it for that w/o seeing it up close.
-
Any makers marks on the speed square? One like this was patented in the late 1850's.
-
Heelie, consider it done and Branson, I'll check and maybe just take em if they're $2 ea. eh?
-
I'll buy the alligators.
-
Copy that Papaw, I'm headed over there in 30 minutes, Should I have him send you an invoice via Paypal ,or another method??
DM&FS
-
Paypal invoice listing all the alligators will do, though I'm not sure how many there are.
-

Sounds good.
-
Heelie: I got the chalk box. It has blaze orage chalk in it, works just fine and is a "DANDEE REEL" made in minneapolis
Branson Here's some real closeups of the speed squares. I couldn't find any maker marks, but the one looks like a Stanley Sweetheart, right?

Changed my mind....closeups of photo #1 here

The square with the Mickey Mouse ear brass looks like a typical Stanley. The one with the diamond brass bits is probably English, and that pattern has been around for 200 years. I had to document the pattern when I was at Sutter's Fort, and I found it illustrated in an 1812 book. The bottom one in the first photo is a real odd-ball. Looks like it's got an adjustable arm instead of a fixed right angle. For $2 I'll take it.
-
The saunders multiple die is a nice find :)

All the tools in the photos are now here at my house. Oily anted up his share and thanks to a guy coming by the house and buying over $100 worth of old tool boxes, I forked over the rest. There will be a lot of what was left I'll sell, but Papaw/Branson, and Heelspur, you're stuff is safe and $2 each, so Papaw got a discount out of the deal...
I should post the photos of all the implement wrenches on the proper forum and see what those folks think. some duplicates, but no cracks in any of them that I could see. If you don't like the varnish look on tools, I guess there's an "app" for that!!!....lol
The guy also had a box of planes for $20, mostly the midgets, but they're going to get sold, except for the Millers Falls and one American Boy(which I don't have one of until now) Post photos of them later tomorrow. PM if you have requests or inquiries...

That stamped metal try square above the Mickey Mouse ear square looks like the squares included in some of the American Boy tool sets.
-
Way to go Moose! This is a real win-win for everyone. Nice of you to help the guy move his tools and lots of guys got some good stuff at reasonable prices.
-
There were two American Boy planes in that stash of planes he sold me...coincidence???
DM&FS
-
Here's the 2 photos of the plane stash, and I'll post the closeups over on the woodworking forum.

2nd Row:
14" Bluegrass with corrugated bottom(missing parts)
