Title: bleys mitre gauge
Post by: jimwrench on January 21, 2013, 08:38:04 PM
Had a chance to buy this auction a couple of weeks ago but resisted the urge. Same gauge shows up at another auction this am. Urge got me this time. Its rusty and crusty which you may have noticed. Haven't cleaned it enough to see all of stamping but it reads Bleys table mitre gauge. Found pqtent 1034068 which seems to correspond. Assume everyone has one or two of these but its new to me. Thought it was interesting if not terribly useful.

Jimwrench,  maybe everybody else has one or two of these, but I don't.  I haven't seen one before either, in pictures or in the wild.  It's an appealing device, and I hope I run across one someday.

I have this Brown & Sharpe Protractor.   I also has a vernier scale down to minutes.

Cleaned this fellow up a bit and surprise surprise was able to get get detent gadget working. Since there was no way to get into the spring loaded cavity without probably damaging the tool, I was amazed when some Deep Creep soaking did the trick. That brass washer that I thought was threaded turned out to be a large rivet.
