Title: Need Help with Ridgid Display
Post by: Bus on September 10, 2013, 10:37:33 PM
Anybody have a catalog or advertisement showing this Ridgid display. Would like to know which wrenches were originally displayed.

This is from a 1958 Ridgid catalog within a catalog. It's not exactly what you're looking for but thought I'd post because of the similarities between your tools/display, and this ad... The decals on the wrenches, the saying "Ten Sizes 6" to 60", etc.

I should have mentioned that when I got the display there were no wrenches with it. I added the wrenches shown and they may not be of the same vintage as the display but i would think 1958 would be about right for the display. Are there pictures of any displays in the catalog?

I would say your wrenches are probably correct for the display (the outside two, anyway). They seem to match the wrenches in the page I posted, and in turn the page seems to match the display.

There are no pictures of any Ridgid displays in this catalog which is unfortunate because there's a lot of nice displays of other tools.

I'm going to say the offset wrench (on left) is a 70-80's  era, I've got them from 6" to 36" . there is a nice 24" at the bottom of the well, yes it was tied to a rope, broke the rope, been down there 30 years this year.

It can be quite difficult to zero in on the age of a Ridgid pipe wrench since there were few design changes over the years, but that particular offset is an exception.

I am quite confident it dates from ~1949-1952 based on a number of factors - and it is the oldest of the three in the photo.

Nice display, never seen one like that for pipe wrenches.
