Title: Four Inch Utica and Plomb Wrenches
Post by: Bus on September 26, 2013, 10:59:00 AM
I bought this 4" Utica Crescent type with the wide shaft at the Baraboo Wrench Auction after the wrench club meet. Except for a smaller diameter adjusting knurl it's just like the Plomb 704 in my collection.

Very interesting, Don.

It would seem that Utica manufactured for Plomb just prior to Plomb's acquisition of J.P. Danielson in 1947, after which they had the capacity to manufacture "in-house".

According to AA your Plomb is from sometime after ~1941 (due to the reinforcing ring around the hanging hole) while the Utica is likely a bit earlier...
