Title: Try This One
Post by: Badknuckles on November 03, 2013, 07:29:08 AM
I found this out in the woods. I know how it is used but not exactly what for. The cross piece is 2 inches long. The threaded shank is 3 inches long.

looks to me like a type of anchor you would tie a rope too.

I found it in an undeveloped park which had been a huge gravel pit type area. It was mounted in a burned up piece of wood. Couldn't resist taking that home.

Evidently you drill an axial hole in the end of a 2" Dia pole and a transverse hole thru that. The threaded shank goes in and the crosspiece holds it. The slot helps align the crosspiece. It's sure a stronger rig than a simple screw eye.

I guess you could use that for anything you want but must have had a specific purpose.

The nut part is often found used in KD (knock down) furniture - can think of a thousand uses for one with a ring bolt - but you want the specific one it was used for - good luck...
