Title: BONNEY S-K PROTO RATCHET FINDS

I found these ratchets over the weekend at a few estate sales.
  1. Bonney AA 707 1/2" drive 10". I've never felt a ratchet with such a fine smooth action. I thought it was stripped when I first picked it up.

 2.Bonney T 702K 3/8" drive 7 3/4". nice action to it.

 3. Proto 5449 1/2" drive 10". It's kinda course but smooth at the same time.

 4. S-K ?? Rotohead 3/8" drive 10 1/2". It only says USA Pat. No. 2911824. It's a bit loose but still smooth.

 5.Duro Chrome 3/8" drive 6 1/4". The square drive pops out. defiantly needs a good soaking.

 6. Bonney # 2591 Stud remover. I found this in a box of sockets.
 
 I think I did pretty good.

The Tr-Wing selector Bonney is probably 60's. In the mid 70's (I think) they went to a single ridge selector. Dual pawls, similar to Craftsman RHFT gears.
The S-K rotoheads were introduced in 1963. Yours with the patent # indicates early 60's vintage. Those seem to be real popular.
And I believe the "grabber" on the Bonney stud remover is reversible to actually double the life of the tool. If yours slips, you can flip it over and get unworn teeth.

I love the SK rotoheads, all thought I thought they were only 3/8 drive.
I have two, I see them often but most people want way more than I will pay.

Ooops,let me fix that. It is a 3/8" drive.

Ken, I have an A707.  It is the same very fine tooth design, but mine is totally sealed.  The only way to get it apart is to somehow remove the sheet metal plug on the top.  I like your design better.

For what it's worth the patent no. is 2,957,377 issued Oct. 25, 1960 to a Mr. T.G. Hare.

love those PROTO pearhead ratchets.That design first came out from PLOMB about 70 years ago and is still being made.Repair kits are cheap and easy to get.
