Title: Odd driver
Post by: Edkat3 on December 15, 2013, 03:55:58 PM
This has been sitting on the shelf at a local auction house for a couple of months. They finally decided to part with this last night. It's obviously a screwdriver but have no idea what the design was made for. The handle and ball are hardwood. No name appears at all.

I have seen one of those before.  I do not think it is a driver.   For some reason, basket making is sticking in my head.  I looked through the usual references (Salaman, Sellens), but could not find it yet.

I thought I had seen one of these before.  The new EAIA newsletter has an article about ice tools in it.  It is an ice pick/chipper/crusher.

Yep, I saw that too last night. It looks like this one has the tip flattened out.

Thank you to all that replied. I had a feeling it just wasn't some strange screwdriver.
