RIP Farley Mowat

Farley Mowat was a Canadian writer whose books kind of alternated between political and social commentary and screamingly funny sort-of biographies; he's gone now, at age 92.  If you haven't read "The Dog Who Wouldn't Be," "The Boat Who Wouldn't Float," and/or "Never Cry Wolf," I recommend looking them up.  His other books are well worth tracking down, too; "People of the Deer," his first book, on the Inuit of Canada (published in 1952), was very important in bringing to the public eye the struggles of the Inuit to survive.

I'm told that some folks thought he was full of himself; could be.  I do know his writing is delightful.

I met him once getting a copy of one of his books signed for my grandfather as a Christmas present.

After Pop died, the book came back to me and must be in a box somewhere as I don't see it on my shelves.
