Hi, I found this plane today at a yard sale. H.Chapin no. 234. I'm trying to find out more info on it. From what I see online, it was made between 1826-1851. Does anyone know this maker? Can you tell me if that info is correct? Searching online I found similar Chapin planes but can not find another no.234. Any clue of a value? Unfortunately it's missing the blade & wedge but still think it's a neat old plane.

I do not know wooden planes but did recently purchase a copy of Kenneth D Roberts "Wooden Planes in 19th century America. He has a lot of info on H Chapin (which I have not read). On a 1859 price list for H Chapin he lists a model 234 for $ 4.50 but you probably want a more up to date price which I don't have. It is listed as a Grooving Plow Plane and I believe it came with 8 blades.
