On the Clark Bar thread, rusty said that BOX TERRIER crate hammers were the property of Bridgeport  and Papaw observed that in the 1920's orders of Clark Bars in crates would include a crate hammer. Nobody offered a connection between Bridgeport  and the BIXBY's mark on my BOX TERRIER (first photo). After convincing myself that there was no BIXBY tool co., I looked for a connection with BIXBY as a customer for BOX TERRIERs. My wife found S. M. BIXBY CO. that made shoe polish, but we could not connect them to the ornate logo used on the tool. Finally I found an ad in the November 1919 issue of the PEOPLES HOME JOURNAL that used that same ornate Logo (second and third photos).  Finally I found the (fourth photo) that to me dates the BIXBY's BOX TERRIER crate hammers to the 1910's- 20'S period.
