restoration paint question
« on: September 03, 2011, 08:02:05 AM »
A friend of mine is restoring a farm wagon that has been in his family for three generations.  I've been helping him with advice on the project (I've done a fair amount of work over the years on various rolling stock).  He's fed the old wood with 50/50 linseed oil and turpentine, and is thinking about the paint now.  He ran across Valpar paints, which are made with agricultural projects in mind.  Specifically:

Valspar Weathercoat Home & Ranch Finish latex paint is linseed oil fortified to ensure good penetration and adhesion to new or weathered wood. Self-priming when two coats are applied
Product Features:
Self-priming
Fade resistant
Gives mildew resistant coating
For new or weathered wood
Metal trim

Linseed oil fortified latex paint is something I haven't heard of before.  Is anybody here familiar with it?  With Valspar products?  Looks like they have an extensive line of products, and premixed colors for any tractor you want to restore.  Their site is at:
