ShopCraft drill info

Have had this little 1/4"er for over a year, but just took it apart for cleaning, lubing, and (I figured) repainting. Came out nice in hammered gray.

Any info on when it was made and who ShopCraft was?

assigned to ; Portable Electric Tools, Inc.  Illinois

so, it is 1963 or later.

Someone on another forum has the same drill in 3/8" drive. He said he thought it was 60's. Pretty close!

Wasn't Shopcraft Montgummery Ward's brandname for powertools?

I believe the Monkey Ward name was "Powr-Kraft," demonstrating that marketing people who can't spell are not a new phenomenon.

I believe that same drill was sold under many different names over the years. I had a new one in 1966 that came from M-Wards. i believe i still have it. It was only about a year old when it quit working.

bought  a 3/8 drill in 1968 for 5 bucks new . have used it constantly , greased the gears a few times and have never had a problem with it . great chuck never slips .
