Marking square?

I got this in a lot of tools I bought on eBay. The body is aluminum, the brass part swivels, and is marked "PAT'D.OCT.1'07"

it is a rule attachment to turn your rule into a multi angled square for doing layout work. Poor mans tri-square.

Brown Tool Auction catalog for their January 24, 2015 auction in York PA lists 3 different Angle Rule Tools.
1. Lot 158 Stanley #2 that has 3 angles on it listed as uncommon with a nothing special Stanley #51 rule estimated at $150-$250
2. Lot #159, Boye rule tool patented by George F. Hall inventor of the Stanley Odd Jobs larger 3 3/4" size estimated at $80 - $160
3. Lot #160 Campbell Patent Rule Tool (like yours pictured above) marked with the patent date but was sold by the Three Rule Co of Newark NJ. The catalog also states this is the least common of the clamp on rule tools. Estimated at $120 - $240.
