While boxing up tools today getting ready for a move I came across this chisel. It has no makers name, just a patent number. I looked up the number on Datamp ( No 2176626 ) it was applied for in 1938 and granted in 39 to a Mr Aurther E Gentry from Eldorado Ill. The strange thing is Datamp says that none of these were ever produced, so I would like to know if any has ever come across one of these.

I dont see anything wrong with it so mine must be worse.
Always looking for what interests me, anything early Dodge Brothers/Graham Brothers trucks ( pre 1932 or so ) and slant six / Super six parts.

Stan explained to me one time when I had the same question, that they(the DATAMP guys) 'bulk upload' a bunch of patents at one time.  They don't have the resources to check every patent to see if it has been produced, relying instead on folks like us to bring it to their attention.

Click the "report " link in the bottom right under the Google patent link, and it will take you to the email of the DATAMP steward who is responsible for that item.  Attach the photos, if you like, and a brief description and he'll update the info.

Looks like a muffler / tail pipe splitting chisel
Of all the things I've lost , I miss my mind the most

Forgot to say that it's purpose is stated to be a bushing remover. 10 1/4" overall, 1/2" dia. hex.
Mike. Thanks for the info, I'll send them an e mail when I get my new camera sorted out. These pics are from my old camera and they are very poor.

Stan may pick up on this, DATAMP will put on the picture if they get one.

when looking at DATAMP picture  & write up, look at the numbers above the picture,
and click on those numbers, they show actual item if they have it.
