Calipers? Clamp? What is this?

I would love some help figuring out what these are. There are no markings on them of any type.

My guess would be blacksmith's calipers - where size unit is not important, but the part being made must match another object...

I agree. Kinda crude construction, but would do for copying in a blacksmith setting.
