I've had this several years,  I have an idea of what it is but I'm not sure.

Maybe an upholsterer's hammer.

Can't see an upholstery use for this hammer.  I'm thinking it's a metal working hammer -- perhaps tinners, maybe auto body work, maybe for repouse work.

I had a cousin that was a rock hound, reminds me of the light weight hammer he carried.  Was for chipping out samples and light digging on interesting rocks.   Not for climbing, just pulling out rock samples.
