Papaw, that looks like a hefty piece if iron, about 1/2" thick for a hard working implement.
I checked my Walter A. Woods horse drawn hay tedder, the tine raising/lowering lever lifts a rod that drops down into notches
like on that plate, it also has many holes with nothing that goes into them. ??? just for looks, or ?? cut down on weight.
the plow also has a plate that is sorta like that with the tooth notches for adjustment. that is a solid steel plate.
the 1941 Farmall-A has a lever that has a plate with notches for the mid-mount cultivators.
I have a horse drawn cultivator that also has the same type of lever that has the notches to adjust the width of cultivation.
yes, many types of older agriculture equipment could use something like that.
