Got any idea what this was used for or it's age? I picked this up today in a cool old machinist's toolbox. It is marked Champion Spark Plug co.I can see how you could clamp it to a table but what then? I don't know if this is the whole tool or just a part of some spark plug related gadget.

The horsehoe shaped part you got your finger in, in no.2, does it move or swivel?   Not heavy enough for use to disassemble the old take apart plugs.  Might be missing some parts.

Found it under sold listings --- http://www.ebay.com/itm/CHAMPION-SPARK-PLUG-CT-415-GAP-SETTING-TOOL-AVIATION-AIRPLANE-AIRCRAFT-/201698573849?hash=item2ef62bfe19%3Ag%3AdXUAAOSwHMJYDWqO&nma=true&si=yYj9gJ7RaYydPaxtEbODPuqm05I%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557

It would not be impossible to construct the missing part.  I like that tool - adding it to my want list.

MD, maybe the other part of the tool is still in the machinist toolbox???

thanks. Unfortunately the other part is not in the box. I was already thinking that it would make a great clamp for a steampunk style desk
lamp build ;)

Of course, if you complete the tool, you then have to get an airplane of suitable vintage for the spark plugs...and build an airstrip in the backyard...and a hangar to put the plane in...and get the leather flight helmet, leather jacket, and long white scarf...and grow (men only) the moustache (women: get a suitable haircut for the flight helmet)...it would rapidly become another slippery slope.

I have some airplane tools in my hoard. I could have kicked myself a few years ago for passing a PLOMB tool aircraft catalog at a estate sale. They wanted $10.00 for it and i passed on it. After i got home i thought about it and went back and it was gone.
