Hello, When I picked this up, I wasn't paying much attention to it. Looked like a saw set at first glance. The plunger & anvil are flat, 1/2" diameter, and the anvil adjusts from 0 to 5/16" (with handles closed). In raised lettering inside one handle COLUMBUS O X X. Looks like more lettering on the other handle, but loaded with paint? japanning? not sure of the finish. Looks like it would flatten a saw tooth, rather than set it, plier type saw wrest? Other guesses are reloading tool?  Crimper? Regards, Lou

Possibly a crimper for lead seals on security wires?  The fixed anvil part may be interchangeable so one could place a number or letter stamp in there.

Hello, A. Thanks for the info, this was found with a group of high voltage tools, all from an electrical contractor. I will keep digging. Papaw, good guess, but I am guessing it does not have the leverage to flatten a rivet. Regards, Lou

Hello, Al. I think you have it. I found a picture of one, with a bag of seals in the photo. I can't figure out how to forward that info!!!!  Thanks, Lou

Nice adaptation of a saw set design, though - why reinvent?
