Hello, I am looking for info on this saw. What I could read on the frame is SPRING STEEL HOLDEN & REED WARRANTED. Is this a U.S. or England manufacturer? The handle looks like a Disston, but the frame is oval, vs. rectangular. Thanks. Lou

Probably/nearly certainly a butcher's saw.  One of the clues is that the blade mounts just one way, no sideways mounting available.

turnnut

meat saw.

check out this site;    www.texastastes.com/p1634.htm

checking Reed butcher saws, the name Forsythe A.  Reed pops up, but can not see any mfg. info.

Hello, Guys. Thanks for the replies. Now I have to dig around in the shop for a wing nut for the blade tensioner. I tried to google Holden & Reed, but all I got was Donna Reed & Bill Holden!!! Familiar faces to me, I guess I am showing my age!!! Regards, Lou
