Most like that were torch wrenches.  I have a couple like that.
The only bad tool is the one that couldn't finish the job.  Ironicly it may be the best tool for the next job.

If that is a lines man wrench in  the other picture/post/link then their maybe a link, because here in the UK B.T. is the name of our National phone company.

If that is a gas bottle wrench I don't know where you would use the box ends,if your rigging up a cutting torch all of the connections need an open end. If your gas welding the box ends will work if your changing the tips but I don't recall ever seeing tips with with that big of a nut. If you could tell us the size of the wrenches that might help,all the oxygen and act guages that I've ever used have about a 1" or 1 1/8" nut that connects to your cylinder and none of those openings look that big. Could well be that it is a gas bottle wrench for some other application maybe medical or whatever.
