Any of you guys ever dared open the head on one of Bog's double-head ratchets?
I got one today in a tub of stuff (including a nice set of early (but not Indian Head) 1/2" Blackhawk six point sockets, four four-point sockets in 3/8, 1/2, 9/16, and 5/8. and two of their old extensions. One has the pressed tin revolving grip.
There were a couple of old Snap-on sockets, one a S/O strikeover
The Bog rat was running rough, and so I dove head-first into it. Let me tell you, it is not for the faint of heart.
No gears. No teeth. Just little pins, little springs, and roller bearings.
My best advice is to use grease to hold those little bitty springs in place while you get the rollers in place. You are sure to have great success on about the 19th attempt.
I love to annoy Mrs. Northwoods by making her listen to that satisfying clicking sound of a newly-refurbished ratchet. She thought surely I was disappointed when I made her listen to the Bog. No sound at all.
I guess I am a little excited to be getting anything at all, considering the cold weather here in the great North Woods.
