Got a No. 7 today.  It is beautiful.  Barely used, based on the lack of wear on the removable plug.
There is a nice article here:  http://www.collectingsnapon.com/index.php?page=socket_sets/1-2inchdrive/HalfRatchet

Mine is 1927-29.  BTW, I got a No. 6 Ratchet Adapter (third version, shown on the same page) for an extra dollar when I bought some sockets: Blackhawk arrowheads, Snap-on overstrikes, and an old Hinsdale.

Here is mine. It is triple date coded, '29, '30 & '31. Apparently multiple date codes weren't unusual back then.

Looks familiar.
Triple date codes?  Very strange.

Congrats on the old No. 7. It sounds like you got a nice one. Lots of good information on that web page too. (I do have to chuckle though on how the guy uses the word "paws" instead of pawls.)
My friends call me Bob. My wife calls me a lot worse.
