NB 50 3/8 Drive Flex Handle +
« on: March 07, 2013, 09:43:59 AM »
Gang,

I recently picked up this New Britain NB 50 flex handle breaker bar that has a patent pending stamping on it.  This particular breaker bar has a unique ratcheting mechanism that allows you to use it as a breaker bar or a crude ratchet, depending on the position of the drive bit.

Does anyone know the patent number for this tool or know how to do a patent search when you only know the assigned company?  [Note... New Britain Machine Co had a gazillion patents.]

Does anyone have a New Britain Tool catalog listing this tool and describing it?  If so, what is the catalog date and what is the description? [ I'm just guessing this could be late 1940's - early 1960's.]

Any help appreciated.

Thank you for the help.  I appreciate it.  Also, I like the way you approached the search; very short, direct, and simple.  I think I can do that now.

I learned something today... it doesn't get much better.

That is pretty cool.  Now I'll have to go bid on one on ebay.

sumner,

The one I bought is the 1st one I've ever seen in the wild, and I've been at it for many years.

Now, ebay is a different story.  For some reason, perhaps the scale of ebay, obscure things seem to pop up more often.  But I don't consider ebay to be real world.  it's cyber world.
