Came in one of the Kennedy tool boxes from Wednesday's auction, but no clue what they do.  The outer jocket seems to be copper and the middle section metal.  The kbig end is spring loaded and moves maybe 3/8".  Guessing it's Refrigeration-related, since my electrician buddy came by the house today and he had no clue what they were.

Those look like Cleco fasteners. They are used to hold pannels on airplanes while they are being riveted in place. They are inserted in the rivet holes as they are drilled and removed as they are riveted. There are some special pliers that work the fasteners.

Hope this helps!

I have had several different brands and styles of the pliers that are used with those fasteners.  Most of them are pliers type.  Here is one that I have listed that has a different shape:

I used Cleco fasteners when I worked in a truck body shop building panels from aluminum posts and sheet.

I have three of the wing nut type. Picked them up many years ago outside Seattle at the Boeing Co surplus store. At that time there was a pallet crate of them in the store and they were $.50 each. That is the biggest and best used tool store that I have ever been in.
