Small SK box
« on: March 03, 2013, 11:29:04 AM »
Got this at the flea market yesterday. Approx. 3" x 6".
Any idea what went in it?
The divider doesn't even go half way across.
Boxes that I have seen for socket sets usually have a full width slanted divider.

It might be a 1/4" set box I've got one from about 1975 that I bought which doesn't have anything to hold the sockets.

That metal inside might have helped stabilize a plastic tray that's missing....maybe, although your logo on that box might predate plastic...

definatly pre-dates plastic........lol

the box is for a 4407 3/8 drive deep socket set. the partition was to keep the shorter sockets (3/8-9/16) from sliding around. sorry I cant scan the page, but it's listed in my 43 catalog.

Ahh...now I remember that set style, the shorter sockets go *under* the lip...

I snap up every metal box I come across these days...
Just a weathered light rust/WD40 mix patina.

Ah, that makes sense.
So just sockets ?
No driver tools ?

Great, now I'll obsess about finding the sockets.

Looks like:
3/8 - 7/16 - 1/2 - 9/16 short
5/8 - 11/16 - 3/4 - 13/16 long

or are the longer ones something else ?
5/8 - 3/4 - 7/8 - 1" maybe
