On the way home from the flea market, I did stop by one sale that had concluded and picked through the tools that were left.  This was a guy form Germany preparing to move back in a couple weeks.  Kinda cool to see all his power tools with the adapters so they can run on US outlets.    He even had a 50' oooopps, I mean a 16.2 meter) extension cord with the Euro prongs.  Prolly headed for the scrap yard.

I must say I was underwhelmed at the quality of some of these "house" brands.  The only Bosch item he had was an old school  ignition dwell tester which was pretty cool to look at, but no one on the block has contact points in their car, so I couldn't play with it.  Even the two socket sets looked like they could've come from Asia.  NO Stahlwille, Gedore or Dowidat that's for sure.

Certainly a unique if not averagely built pliers was in this photo below.  It's 18 inches long and the paint on it is pretty hoaky.  Those of you fluent in German can interpret as you see fit.

End of report.

Okay, I'll throw a photo or two of the Bosch thingy...and yeah, the instructions were all in German.  Looks like from the pix in the manual that it also tests the coil and plug connectors and has a tach...no date code that I could find though.......

The EFAW testers were for testing cars with early fuel injection systems

EFAW-226 is listed as a usable tester in the 1974 May supplement for Mercedes service..
Designed for use with transistorized ignition modules...to set timing offset...

Just a weathered light rust/WD40 mix patina.

Thanks rusty, any chance this thing would sell on ebay to some fanatic MB owner??  I did find an MB tire kit socket in one of the boxes that came from his stash, so that does kinda fit in.

"Stahl Geschmiedet" simply means "Forged Steel".

I don't see a "Made in Germany" stamp on that tool. By the way, it is what's called a "Swedish-pattern pipe wrench"...

Thanks LG.  His socke sets didn't either, but he assured me they were made in Germany.  wondering what their laws are concerning country of origination etc.

BTW, have you ever seen a high quality version of this designed wrench???  For my oney, the Stillson design beats ths thing hands down.

YMMV

Not sure what Germany's labelling requirements are, but I'd be a little suspicious about an unmarked "German" tool...

Yes, I have two of those Swedish-pattern wrenches. Their advantage over a Stillson or Heavy Duty (Ridgid) style is that the jaws are slimmer and can fit in places the others can't. I would not want to be without a Stillson or HD, but I sure appreciate the Swedish style available for deployment too!

I'll take a picture of mine today.

Here ya go!

A Rothenberger & a Gedore. Both made in Germany (though I doubt Gedore is the actual manufacturer)...

Mine looks cheesier than either of those two!!!

Thanks for sharing
