Crescent ajustable wrench ?

My buddy bought an adjustable wrench that says 6-8" on it, and it is a single wrench and the end of the wrench looks like a factory end w/o the hole though. Only 6-8 I've seen was the double ended adjustable. I'm thinking it was a double wrench that was cut off, but the end looks so good on it.

Is there a crescent wrench that says 6-8" that is not a double ended wrench?

The only Crescents I've seen with 6-8, or any other double marking for that matter, have a wrench on each end.  The next question would be why in the world would someone cut off one of the ends?

They aren't really that uncomfortable to use with a wrench on both ends.  Makes one wonder.

Its very neatly squared off end. Next time I see him I'm gonna look at it with my jewelers loupe.

I've seen one other "double ender" that had one end removed -- it was the smaller end & one can speculate that the handle leverage was too much for the smaller jaw, so that it broke and was removed so as to salvage the use of the other end.  In that case the giveaway was the handle taper.  The handles of the double enders taper between the larger and smaller ends; most single enders are either straight handles, or have the end of the handle slightly larger than the portion nearer the wrench end.
