What were these pliers used for?

A friend of mine found these pliers and we don't know what they were used for. Can anyone tell us their original use?

Bill, Take a look at the Alloy Artifacts site.  Look for Eagle Claw Wrench Co.  They really had no specific purpose...just another tool idea.  There are times when they are handy.
