rabbits
« on: November 20, 2013, 12:09:48 AM »
Well, today was another interesting day in the life of "Bird."  I never answer the phone if it is a number that I don't recognize.  So, I listened to the message from an unidentified number.
"Hi, Jenny.  This is ...................   I hate to call you asking for a favor, but I'm in a pinch right now."
Ok, maybe this doesn't speak well for the friends and acquaintances I have or have had......   but, when someone calls me in a state of desperation saying that they are in a 'pinch'......  that means someone is in jail and needs me to bail them out.
That statement may be misleading,  I don't have any violent persons in my life.  It's just that some persons have a really good "green thumb."
Anyhow, I called back this person that I barely know, expecting the worse, and he said,
"Hey, I don't know if you remember me.  I need a really big favor.  Do you think you could go feed my rabbits?"
FINALLY,  a fairly easy favor to do for someone!
I'm not going to lie, I said, "I'm sorry what's your name?"
It turns out this guy is..........  wait for it...........  my x girlfriend (who killed herself) sons cousins boyfriend.  Yeah, try to keep that straight!
Anyhow, most of you know that disasters tend to follow me, and I always get lost .   I've started out in SC with the mission of going to North Carolina,  and been surprised when I saw a "Welcome to Georgia"  sign.   I've also left TN with the plan of going to VA, and wound up in KY.  Yeah, it's a certain strength that I have.
Anyhow, I'm driving through the middle of nowhere (which is saying a lot, because I live in the middle of nowhere),  I'm grumbling and talking to myself.  "I can't believe this.  I've got to go feed some freaking rabbits in the middle of nowhere for a person I don't really know. "  I'm still tossing ideas around my head on the way to the rabbits......  "I swear to goodness,  if one of those rabbits hops on out of where he/she is supposed to be.....  I'm not chasing a rabbit  around all night.
I can just see it now......  I wake up and am a tiny person in Alice in Wonderlands world!!!!!
Anyhow,  I've been bit by a number of animals.  Canada geese are particularly viscous. I don't remember where the heck I was when a rabbit bit me.. I'm sure it wasn't much of a bite!!!
All the same, I'm driving up to this mountain to take care of a bunch of rabbits that may or may not bite me.  They may or may not hop out of their cages.......   yeah, you all know I love a dramatic story!
Have any of you ever had friends that talk forever and then say,  "Anyhow, to make a long story short....."
The story is way too long if you say "to make a long story short."
Us folks in the South have another weird saying;  "Oh, bless his/ her heart."  That basically means a person is far less then average on the IQ scale.
Well, I think I've made up for lost time in the rambling department!  It's good to be back.
cheers,
bird.

Yes, I fed the rabbits!  Each one has its own food thing and water bottle .  So, I filled up their food bowls and water bottles.  I think the rabbits will remain happy.....  or ,  at least healthy.......
I called the guy to tell him his rabbits were fed.  He said, "Well did the white one at the end of the first cage drink more water then the others?'
I said, "Just exactly what planet are you living on???????????????????   Do you really think I've taken an inventory on what rabbits have drank what?"
"Oh, I guess you wouldn't really remember that."
        "You guessed right!"
cheers,
bird.

Hasenpfeffer !!    That's what I told the Pastors daughters they should name their 4H Bunnies.   Hoss and Feffer.
Naturally they didn't get it,  but their Grandmother was on the floor laughing.

Well, I went to feed the rabbits again today.  "Ok little fellows, this may be your last supper........  I hope I put all of the rabbit food in the right containers for you folks."
       I'm not changing my mind.
There is absolutely no reason why someone should own a bunch of rabbits/ bunnies  for no apparent reason. Having one rabbit as a pet.....  that's a stretch for me.....  but understandable.  Who keeps a ton of rabbits for no apparent reason? I have to pull up this corrugated metal covering in order to feed and water them.  They didn't like that noise anymore than I did.
The sound of rain on a tin roof is one thing, prying up metal roof in order to feed the bunnies is a whole other thing!
          I stand firm.
I don't like rabbits/  bunnies.   They make me nervous.  I guess most things do!
I'm honored so many of you continue to read my ramblings
cheers,
bird.
