Unknown Forge Marking (L in a square)

Looking for any information on the forge markings on this wrench, an L inside a square.  Based on where it was found, it may have been forged in the Jersey City-Bayonne, NJ area.  An unusual shaped wrench, with the handle perpendicular to the crescent portion.  This came from the basement of a home that had a couple old-timey firefighters in the family tree (late 1800s, early 1900s), so this is maybe an old hydrant wrench?
The only "L" forge or tool markings I could find were for Lakeside (forged with keystone shape border), Larsen (stamped with hex-shaped border), and Lewis (a modern company that makes gun parts), so those don't seem right.  Any ideas are appreciated.

Its a spanner wrench, it can be used in fire hose connection. Theres also adjustable types and pin types of spanner wrenches. Lots of different applications thoe.

I haven't saw that brand before, however ime sure someone here has.

I don't think that is a fire hose spanner.  The most common is pin lug, the flat lug type is actually kind of hooked.  Fire hose spanners generally are hooked also.

Spanner wrenches are used in aviation, industry, and for some automotive uses. My guess on that might be aviation, or bomb assembly perhaps. (sq-swag)

I think (at work, don't have my reference file) that [L] is Lockwood Manufacturing. They made door closers etc.
The wrench would be for winding old rotory door closers.
