I found this interview with a cooper from Catalan this morning:

In it, he says,  "To become a good craftsman you have to love the trade.  You must live FOR the trade, not FROM the trade. ... This is the key, this is the intricacy:  to live FROM or For."

This guy is worth listening to -- his views on life, on making things by hand, what it means to live in the countryside.
