Contract tools?
« on: May 04, 2014, 11:29:06 AM »
Ran across some tools this week that were labeled one brand but looked suspicoulsy like another.

For instance, saw a Powerkraft 1/4" round head rat that looked a whole lot like my Thorsen roundheads. And a Giller DBE wrench that looks like a Thorsen I have. Any connections?

bonneyman,

Sorry, I was being flip.  I couldn't resist.

To the point-- AA/Thorsen Tools/Contract Production/ does discuss the connections between Thorsen, Montgomery Wards, and Giller.  I think it is safe to say that Thorsen produced tools for both companies, and perhaps other companies as well.

No need for an apology, Gary.

It's just tough (and kind a fun) trying to trace what companies did contract work for what retailers - years after the manufacturers and retailers themselves go out of business. lol
