cast number stamp
« on: August 09, 2014, 03:21:10 PM »
Today at auction they had a number stamp which I had not seen the likes of. Had a cast head with numbers (0-9) around periphery Numbers 1/2 to 3/4 tall. Had a handle like a perfect handle wrench and overall length of 10 to 12 inches. Was obviously quite old and I went to $30 before my knees got wobbly. Hate it when that happens.
Did get Winchester back saw ;1/4 Plomb ratchet;draw knife;pruning saw;No4 size(off brand plane)and a pair of cornering tools(Japanese) similar to Stanley 28 &29. would trade it all for the number stamp but I only spent $10.
Sorry no picture of the stamp I didn't get. Anyone ever seen one of them?

Lumber stamp?
Just a weathered light rust/WD40 mix patina.

I think Rusty is right.  There was one of these in one of the recent Donnelly auctions.  I don't remember what it went for.
