What are these pliers

Can anyone identify these pliers?

The main body is forged steel.

They have two separate hardened steel forms that can be adjusted vertically to an oval copper
plate that is riveted to an oval plate on the bottom jaw, always perpendicular to the plate.

They are very well fitted to the hand and must be for a repetitive task.

My best "guess" is that they were for embossing leather

If those had a single upper (jaw), with a sharp edge, I would say they are a hog "Hog Snouter", used to trim a hogs nose to keep them from rooting in the dirt,  they have the right shape.

I have many antique tools but had never seen anything like this.
