Daniel Cheney Quick Adjust Wrench

It was a break the bank weekend. I picked up the Elgin, the Gilbert multi tool another Hilary Klein wrench that brings my collection to 48 of the 76 different ones and last but not least was this Daniel Cheney quick adjust wrench that might be the only one. It came with both original patent documents. Patented April 27, 1897 patent 581,267 and October 4, 1898 patent 611,771. The wrench jaws are marked up a little and they are sprung just a little bit. No marks on the wrench and no patent tag on the wrench so it isn't known if this was the patent model or not. The lever releases a block that engages the serrations on the main bar of the wrench. There is a block on the back side of the moveable jaw behind the lever area that is held in place with a screw and must set the gap that allows the lower jaw to release and lock.

I won't be buying anything else until the spring at the earliest.

that Cheney is a nice looking wrench,  I have never seen one, thanks for showing it.

with that and the Klein wrench, plus a few others,  that is a very good early
Christmas gift.
