Mystery snaps
« on: November 11, 2014, 09:20:34 PM »
I bought most of the contents of a watch makers shop last year and in the small parts I found these small, fancy snaps. Some are gold filled and some are silver. I have never seen any of these in use on any type of watches.
Any ideas?

High end lingerie strap fasteners?  All the  pieces  appear to have "slots" that ribbons or straps could fit through.

Perhaps for watch fobs.

(I havn't seen a watch on a fob in years ;P)
Just a weathered light rust/WD40 mix patina.

My guess is for ladies' watchbands. Ladies' watchbands in the 20s, 30s, and even up to the 40s were often fabric cords.

That is it, ribbon watch band snap. I even found a picture of one. Thanks!
