Here is a ratchet I got just before my computer crashed.
Thought it was a new twist with the chain inside the rachet. Just learning to use irfanview so will try one photo. If ti works I have a couple more shots.

Tom Bailey loved to play with these every time one came through one of his auctions.   I've never put one to the test to see how much torque the pull chain actually supplies.   You get one full turn of the head for each full length pull of the chain.
(http://www.datamp.org/patents/advance.php?pn=2292391&id=35234&set=2 ) is the "as built" patent.

With a stubby socket I'd bet that thing would work wonders in restricted areas.

Are they as reliable as a standard ratchet for it it's time? are they able to be rebuilt easily?

I only see them being beneficial in a area space is restricted. Like bonneyman said it would work wonders with a stubby socket.

Either way it's deffinitly one I would love to get my hands on one day.

who gave that right to me.
