Hello All!
I found this in my back field last weekend and haven't cleaned it up. It's about a foot long and looks hand made. There was a blacksmith business on my property back in the mid-1800's, so it could be handmade. It looks like it was used for prying AND cutting. Maybe for leather?
I know it's hard to date it exactly, but Id really like to figure out what it was used for.
Thanks!

You think that there's any way you could pull a nail with that notch?

Hmmm...it looks like it would be for cutting, but I see where you're going. Maybe the flat part for prying up the nail head and the notch for pulling the nail?
I'm also going to try searching Civil War hand tools to see what comes up.
