Just picked up this beauty.  6-1/4"L, Shultz #479, Gagnon patent 1906.  Solid adjuster vice the wire style (#480).

Northwoods

The ORIGINAL Northwoods.

They made an 8 inch version too. I think the solid adjuster style is a lot harder to find.

I think the larger version used the wire with a loop. I'm not at home to look.

I have a 6 & 8 1/2 with the wire loop style adjuster and a 8 1/2 with the solid bar adjuster. I think it is a manufacturing change but again I'm not sure which one is the older one.

An 8" with same solid adjuster sold at MJD for a decent sum

I just found mine,  measures  6 7/16"   and has the spring loop.

I also never knew about the solid thumb pull.

thanks for sharing.

Found a nice loop adjuster models from one of the field vendors at Donnelly's this July. It is the smaller  6 1/4 in. version.
