I had a chance to go to my favorite Fall meet today. Blue Mountain Antique Tractor and Engine Show. They always have a nice sized flea market and some years nothing follows me home but today 3 little guys followed me home. A Whitman & Barnes bicycle wrench another bicycle sized wrench with ruler markings on one side and an oval with "STEEL" inside of it along with "The S. & E. M CO" I haven't figured out who that is yet. Last but not least the neatest little pair of pipe tongs that I have ever seen. Back drop is a 1 inch graduated cutting mat. Tongs needed a little oiling to get the adjusting screw loose but other than that they are just fine. The best part was I spent less than $20.

was that show in Bangor, PA  ?? ?   if so, the wife and I was down there back in the 80's and
it was a good show.  I believe they were making apple butter or something along that line.

The S & E looks like a Mossberg, but of course it isn't.  Interesting.

Yes, Bangor PA. They have 3 main shows each year. A 4th is held in the winter but is much smaller. I was there at dawn and out of there by 10:30 it was really getting crowded. Steam Tractor driven saw mill, tractor pulls with antique tractors.

S&E might be Smith & Egge .. not a real common name & the tool line is not really well documented. 
Am on vacation half a continent away from home & all the research tools.

 I believe that Stan is on the right track with Smith & Egge.

Smith & Egge Mfg. Co., Bridgeport, Conn. is listed in the 'Hardware news"  on Jan. 10, 1900.  they were also
listed in ads in late 1800's.  some of their listed products were;  locks, hinges, wrenches, plumbing tools,
sash pulls & chains, punches, plumbing supplies, pipe straps, traps.
also a bicycle wrench.

under google search, sewing machines popped up ????????
