I'll even 3 times the steady rest. Have one like it I use.

That looks like plywood in the photo.  If it is, I betcha it's a homegrown one - and a nice job.

What's the diameter of the bottom hole?  It looks like it would work on a Craftsman wood lathe with the round bed.  I think they are 3", but can't check until tomorrow.

No idea, they  didn't post specs.

The one I have is on my ridged lathe, Ridgid made the Craftsman before sears went to china.

Wow. I ran a lathe at work for many years, but I've never seen a plywood steady rest before. :huh:
