Northwoods

Came home last week with a Cornwell speeder with the distinctive hexagon grip, much like this one from AA.

Mine, though is marked      52  CORNWELL    6 (or possibly G)
The marking on mine is wrapped around the shank, rather than along its length.
If the marking is a G, could mine have been made for the government during the war?
Any thoughts, folks?
The ORIGINAL Northwoods.
