Hello, I am looking for info on this socket Stamped Bonney USA 27020. 3/8" drive, 2-5/8" long, with what I am calling a captive flat blade screwdriver tip. Carburetor/Valve/Transmission, adjustment tool? Thanks,Lou

Can't offer any conclusive help, Lou. Checked my 1967, 1977, 1981, and 1986 Bonney catalogs - nada.

Looks big for a carb, and, if it's a socket, that seems like overkill for a carb adjustment.  Do the Chevy valve adjusters use slotted screw heads?

Old six cylinder Chevy 216, 235 and 261 engines used stove bolts (round headed 1/4 x 20 bolts with a slot ) to hold on the tappet cover, valve cover, oil pan and timing cover, thus the name stovebolt Chevy. I have a Proto socket made for that use.

Didn't GM run a oil pump shaft with a slot to the distributor for a few years? This would be to pre-oil the engine before start up.Fords were a hex shaft, Chrysler?

If memory serves, Studebaker did, in the Champion motor.

It is a tool for adjusting the bands on a Ford / Mercury two speed auto transmission. A Ford-O-Matic or Merc-O-Matic. 1950'S era stuff.
