Tire Spreader
« on: April 02, 2012, 08:49:52 PM »
I've had curiosity about this thing since JohnK called it out as being an early tire spreader.  In reading tonight it appears he is correct and it is possibly a Weaver brand.  I haven't studied the spreader for markings only going by memory, picture, and research online.  It looks like a nice candidate for restoration.

I found a similar model at the The International Towing and Recovery Hall of Fame Museum in Chattanooga TN  http://www.theautochannel.com/news/2005/12/31/200235.2-lg.jpg

Just put that old 15 inch skin laying there behind it, on the rollers, and crank it open with the arms, should work pretty good.   It is what I get for hanging around so many greasy old gas stations 40 years ago, that already had 30 years of accumulation in them.    Darn, where did all those gas stations go?   I still feel they were the best training ground for aspiring mechanics.

Always looking for what interests me, anything early Dodge Brothers/Graham Brothers trucks ( pre 1932 or so ) and slant six / Super six parts.
