RailRoad Locomotive Manuals
« on: August 30, 2012, 04:57:35 PM »
I was out looking for tools and Auto stuff and found a Box of over 50 Rail road manuals
from 1921-1970.Mostly 40-50's stuff. Fascinating reading, looks like you could crawl in and fire it up with the photos and instructions.
The reason I'm posting here is I want to sell them after I'm done reading them, and I know there are societys that keep these things running.
Any one have an idea , I don't want to use Ebay.
Some of the stuff is B&O and C&O ( OHIO) related.
I looked on google ,not a lot of people looking for a locomotive manual.
I'd sell for the price of 2 manuals on ebay.
I'd like them to get to a real enthusiats.
Thanks Roy

The first place that comes to mind is the Strasburg Railroad in Pennsylvania.

The Strasburg Railroad Mechanical Department has a shop where they repair their own, and repair others steam locomotives.

Mailing Address:
P.O. Box 96
Strasburg, PA 17579-0096

Location Address:
301 Gap Road
Ronks, PA 17572-9566

Telephone:
General Information: 717-687-7522
Groups & Students: 717-687-8421

I was last down there a few years ago. It is in a nice area of Lancaster PA, lots to see, as well as the Amish.

Thank you for your time and effort. I do have a few pieces from the steam era. Most are
from the electromotive era , with some steam generator manuals also.
Interesting stuff.
We have a local RR club in town , but most of the guys are to elderly to do any thing with the locomotive and the cars. They are deteriorating badly.
I can't seem to contact anyone with any interest. I think it's age and the economy.
They used to run it only twice a year.
Now just during halloween,for revenue.
They might need these operators manuals if they all die off.
I know they have to bring outsiders in to help them out on repairs.
Kind of sad.
I hope I can get this to someone that will put it to use.
Thanks again, Roy
