WLGS Weekend wrap up
« on: October 08, 2012, 11:03:35 AM »
Well, the smoke has settled on the World's Largest Garage Sale, fall edition 2012 and from the feedback I got from the "neighbors" around me, I'd say the traffic was excellent and my fears of last fall's lack of male customers due to the weekend being the first Saturday of bow deer season, that didn't affect things this time around.  Radio station gal said they had over 2500 folks pay a dollar to get in.  I was busy from about 7:10 AM right through 1PM when things slowed a little.  Quitting time was 2PM and I moved quite a bit of stuff.  One guy bought $80 worth of Craftsman wrenches and pretty much cleaned me out of those for now.  Sold several of the V-series C-man rats and flex overs and had a lot of$1-$5 purchases which added up over 7 hours.

I did have more competition this time around, including "Jim" the retired  guy that rents a tent at Shirley's flea markets.  He and I don't really view ourselves as competitors, as I've bought stuff from him for my own collection.  It was near freezing for the folks lined up 100yd back of the front door and the building wasn't heated, but it was out of the wind and that helped.  The other two tool sellers were more focused on power tools and contractors tools.  The only real finds there for me were a pair of Wizard rats I got for Oily's Dad for a dollar.  I think he already has one of them.

Wish I had photos, but the camera is still MIA and that's a problem for all of us.  Now that I have a feel for what folks are buying, I'll be able to consolidate some of my table sections and go from there.  You can pack a lot of tools in a 10x20 space and still have room to walk!!  The dollar and the 50 cent tables were a hit also.

Time to send Papaw his cut...right after I settle wit the state tax man....
