I need a .307-32 tap. This is the threads on a Schrader valve stem cap. The cheapest I have found one on line was over $50

Not surprised, it is from a fine thread pipe thread spec for thinwall brass tubing that has been obsolete for decades and decades and decades...P

It is also the same thread as on a ford fuel rail test port, and, I believe,  an R12 refrigerant test port, so a repair tap for one of those may be an option.....

(Sorry, I *know* I don't have one of those without evenn looking)

I'd think that if you were careful you could cut new threads on brass with that! Just cleaning it up, well thats what they made for! Good call Papaw, $15 is a lot better than $50!

Those 4 way valve stem thread tool are cheap, many times you can get them for a few bucks.
But Fflintstone was asking for a "307-32 Tap". the 4 way tool has a 307-32 Die. the tap end is 210-36 (inside stem)

(Copied from another post) Schrader valve stems (passenger car type) are .305 - 32 tpi on the OD. Valve caps to fit are .307-32 tpi. This is per TRA specifications.

Standard passenger tire valve cores are threaded .206-36 on their male thread OD. And the female tapped thread for valve cores are .210-36. Also per TRA specifications.

Papaw, That was a good idea!! too bad the tool didn't include the .307" -32 Tap.

Fflintstone are you cutting or chasing threads?

Maybe can use similar size & with same TPI, if not cutting threads.  i.e. 5/16"-32 TPI. #3 bottom tap.
maybe little too loose, but can be used as a thread chaser, i.e. scraping insides of ID.
