Research Using NSN - National Stock Number

I have a few tools that have accompanying NSN numbers.  If I'm correct NSN stood for National Stock Number, and replaced the Federal Stock Number. 

I have found a couple of resources that would allow you to take a number and imply, or infer, its use........but I'd like to know if there are research sites publicly available where you can take an NSN number and data mine.
