My younger step son was bored yesterday morning, and his brother and my wife were busy with college applications, so it seemed to be my duty to take him to a local flea market. You all can imagine what a chore I thought that was.
But virtue is its own reward. I found a 10 inch Utica crescent style (I can say that here, right?) in the 90 series. I like the thin jaws, and the 10 inch gives me a family now 4", two 6", 8" and the new 10 inch. Paid all of 6 bucks for it. Same stall gave me a pair of Kraueter battery pliers for a buck. Found a nice larger screwdriver -- the sort where the shaft goes all the way through to a solid steel end. I was on my way out when I saw the box in the photos.
I remembered that there are folks here who are interested in Giller tools, so I asked how much. Box and contents, $30. Most of what was in the box wasn't very interesting, but I picked out a Williams 1/2 inch drive swivel, S-K 5/8, Thorson 11/16, and a New Britain -- all 1/2 inch drive. A little more digging brought me a couple of 1/4 inch drive sockets, an S-K and a Walden, both 7/16. Box and sockets came to $10.
While I was waiting for change, I looked at the other end of the table, and found a Makita cordless trim saw. The guy said he had another, and that other had a good carbide blade. He was sure he had a loaded battery, and dug around. We tried three before we found the good battery. $20 and I have the solution to a problem I have with some trim I mis-measured and installed. With this I can trim it in place instead of yanking it out, taking it to the saw, and re-installing it. Plus I have a new toy.
I don't have any idea what came in the Giller box. It's 19 3/4 inches long and 4 1/4 inches wide. It's available if somebody's interested.
